Blending supremely strong fibers—such as nylon and aramids like Nomex® and Kevlar®—with cotton creates a fabric that offers a superior level of strength without feeling stiff or uncomfortable. The cotton filling yarn of the fabric, which rests against the skin, makes the garment feel soft and comfortable on the inside, while the durable nylon, Kevlar® or Nomex® are engineered on the exterior to deliver significantly higher abrasion resistance. Mount Vernon FR’s N2X fabrics are cotton blends with 25% nylon. With two times the nylon, N2X fabrics have been shown to withstand up to three times the abrasion compared to conventional fabrics.
